Shediac Bay Church hosts pancake breakfast

The Shediac Bay Community Church, 28 Roy Mollins Dr., Shediac, will hold a pancake breakfast and plant sale today from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Cost is $6. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast, with juice, tea or coffee.

Everyone is welcome.

Spring tea

St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 2340 Route 115, Irishtown, will hold a spring tea today from Noon to 2 p.m.

All tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling Marie Celine at 383-9287.

All proceeds go towards the church building fund.

Musical afternoon

Trinity United Church in Port Elgin will host a musical afternoon tomorrow, beginning at 2 p.m.

It will feature Little Nashville.

Refreshments will be served.

A goodwill offering would be appreciated.

Proceeds from the event will go to the church floor fund.

Swinging into spring

The Central United Church presents ‘Swinging into Spring,’ an evening of music, dance and comedy tomorrow, starting at 7 p.m

Special guest emcee is Marshall Button.

The event takes place at the Central United Church Sanctuary/The Community Peace Centre Forum, 150 Queen St., Moncton.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under.

Fashion show

A spring fashion show and dessert party will be held on Monday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church hall, 28 Woolridge St., Riverview.

The event is sponsored by the Ladies Parish Guild and featuring fashions by NYGARD, desserts and musical entertainment.

Christian meditation

Phil Barnett, a retired Anglican Church minister and national coordinator of the Canadian Christian Meditation Community, will introduce participants to Christian Meditation on Tuesday, May 17, at St. Paul’s United Church, 404 Cleveland Ave., Riverview, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

A time of fellowship will follow.

Church conference

The Anglican Network in Canada will hold a free Church Planting conference led by people ‘in the trenches.’

The Biblically- and theologically- based sessions and workshops are designed to equip church leaders (both lay and clergy) with thoughtful and practical ideas for use in their congregations.

The speakers are Rev. William Beasley, Chicago; Rev. Alec Cameron, Vermont; and Rev. Paul Donison, Ottawa.

Gospel concert

The Hyssongs will present a concert of Gospel Music at Parkside Baptist Church, located at 871 Mountain Rd, in Moncton, on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m.

The Hyssongs, Dell, Susan and Richard, are a family who has been called by God to share the message of Jesus Christ through their music. With family vocal harmony, lively energetic style, humour, and brass instruments (trumpet and trombone), they encourage and uplift people wherever they appear.

They perform throughout the U.S. and Canada in churches, auditoriums, on gospel cruises, and are frequently featured on television and radio.

The Hyssongs have had several hit songs on Singing News and the Christian Voice radio charts.

Pancake breakfast

A pancake breakfast will be held at Wesley Memorial United Church, 168 Cameron St., Moncton, on Saturday, May 28.

The breakfast will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Cost is a free will offering. Please use entrance ‘F’ at Cameron & Dufferin Streets.

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, homemade beans, toast, juice, tea and coffee.

Hymn sing

St. Vincent de Paul Society will hold a spring fundraiser on Saturday, May 28, from 8 a.m. to Noon at 113 Norwood Ave., Moncton, (basement of St. Augustine ‘s Villa).

The fundraiser will feature a large selection of flea market items and good quality used clothing.

Annual meeting

The annual meeting for the Lower Cape Mountain View Cemetery will be held Monday, May 30 at 7 p.m. at the Lower Cape Baptist Church.

Gospel singers

Nightwatch begins its 19th year ministering the gospel in song. In the past 18 years, the group has sung in churches and halls throughout the Maritimes and has produced four CDs.

Pilgrimage planned

A pilgrimage to Medjugorje for the 30th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary daily to this day is planned for June 22 to July 1, 2011.

Cost is $2,475 from the Maritimes and includes accommodations with two meals a day and local guide.

Also being organized is a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Egypt for Oct. 8 to 17. Cost is $2,895 and includes accommodations, two meals, tour guides, entrance fees and a Nile cruise..

Fees include return airfare from Moncton, Halifax or Fredericton.
